One of the best ways to accomplish something is to have accountability while doing it. Since accountability requires structured consistency, a trait which I lack, this is going to be a challenge.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Linwë, and I am unhealthy. I also possess cravings for bread, mayonnaise and cheese. Not surprisingly, I found myself sitting eighty pounds overweight in a doctor’s office four months ago.
“Your BMI chart indicates that you are 50% fat,” my doctor announced matter-of-factly. “You are morbidly obese.”
Morbidly obese. I’ll never forget that statement.
The rest of the appointment went by in a blur. More conversations, paperwork, blood tests; signing up for a 12-week weight loss program (to start after my Disney trip). It was all surreal. So this is it, I thought. No turning back.
I savored each Disney meal, wondering when I’d eat delicious food again, if ever. Then I packed up, drove back home, and set my face to the storm.
That “storm” turned out to be one of the best things I ever experienced. 12 weeks of home-cooked meals with fresh ingredients sucked my 50% body fat down to 42% body fat. I had lost forty pounds.
Here I am, Day One after having completed my doctor’s regime. I am over halfway through towards my goal of 150 pounds. I would love you to keep me accountable so that I don’t give up the fight. In return, I hope you get inspiration or enjoyment out of my blog!
Here we go.
Here I go.
